I signed in only to find my background code was missing or damaged and for some reason I couldn't fix it. So I had to re-do the design all together....sheesh! So it seems to be fixed although there are still a couple things I haven't figured out. Now I need to get photos of my recent work uploaded from my iPhone to the computer so I can post the few things I've done lately. I've been doing more babysitting than artwork!!!!</span></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825939093156890650noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8967156260199531431.post-10227593913899715922011-07-24T19:34:00.004-04:002011-07-24T19:45:09.869-04:00My last two sets of skinny pages....<div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VOG08i0jo_4/TiyuSnjB2fI/AAAAAAAAAcU/7NZCc0jici8/s1600/IMG_8092.JPG"><img style="width: 165px; height: 320px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633068868810430962" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VOG08i0jo_4/TiyuSnjB2fI/AAAAAAAAAcU/7NZCc0jici8/s320/IMG_8092.JPG" /></a><br /><div align="justify"> These are my last two sets of skinny book pages. I have to admit I was sad to see this one end. Although I really stressed about these mermaid and Halloween pages, I am pretty happy with the end result. And even though my "Shades of White" book isn't actually bound yet, the pages I received from this group of talented ladies is absolutely fabulous. Twelve of us from this group are now doing a 4x4 page swap. We will be doing a page a month again, so it will take a year to complete the book.<br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_UOdFQwbJ2A/Tiys16gqEdI/AAAAAAAAAcE/BbVSxMJxjeE/s1600/IMG_8093.JPG"><img style="width: 157px; height: 320px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633067276172923346" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_UOdFQwbJ2A/Tiys16gqEdI/AAAAAAAAAcE/BbVSxMJxjeE/s320/IMG_8093.JPG" /></a><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hj8Zwhg6GOY/Tiys1mTnGYI/AAAAAAAAAb8/4_bzg3WFNgU/s1600/IMG_7460.JPG"><img style="width: 166px; height: 320px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633067270749493634" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hj8Zwhg6GOY/Tiys1mTnGYI/AAAAAAAAAb8/4_bzg3WFNgU/s320/IMG_7460.JPG" /></a><br /><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bHcdvF7LJx8/Tiys1fcjh4I/AAAAAAAAAb0/M878P50ddyY/s1600/IMG_7458.JPG"><img style="width: 171px; height: 320px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633067268907960194" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bHcdvF7LJx8/Tiys1fcjh4I/AAAAAAAAAb0/M878P50ddyY/s320/IMG_7458.JPG" /></a><br /><div></div></div></div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825939093156890650noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8967156260199531431.post-4936846901335932072011-07-24T19:13:00.004-04:002011-07-24T19:32:53.559-04:00More art stuff.....<div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RHOOdm4ohJ0/TiypEKsk0JI/AAAAAAAAAbs/eK71TnU-RXQ/s1600/IMG_5242.JPG"><img style="width: 320px; height: 261px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5633063122989535378" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RHOOdm4ohJ0/TiypEKsk0JI/AAAAAAAAAbs/eK71TnU-RXQ/s320/IMG_5242.JPG" /></a></div><div align="justify">These are three little "housecicles" for another PaperWhimsy swap. I must confess to being addicted to a photo app on my iPhone called InstaGram and spend way too much time taking and editing pictures. Enough of that for right now, will post some of my creations on another post. Meanwhile, here is the newest addition to our family....little Morgan Elizabeth.....born 3/12/11. She is such a little sweetie!!</div><div> </div><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4aEOPuF7jWw/Tiiew_N-GLI/AAAAAAAAAW0/UrsIsxlcmVc/s1600/100_4811.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="width: 240px; height: 320px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631925898467743922" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4aEOPuF7jWw/Tiiew_N-GLI/AAAAAAAAAW0/UrsIsxlcmVc/s320/100_4811.JPG" /></a></div><div> </div><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ATcm_CqHKow/TiiewXVFikI/AAAAAAAAAWs/bhRxR0G-wGU/s1600/100_4675.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="width: 320px; height: 240px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631925887760173634" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ATcm_CqHKow/TiiewXVFikI/AAAAAAAAAWs/bhRxR0G-wGU/s320/100_4675.JPG" /></a><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-l0fuLSm59UQ/TiiewJg_ISI/AAAAAAAAAWk/exOvy3UZo1E/s1600/100_4614.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="width: 320px; height: 240px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631925884051988770" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-l0fuLSm59UQ/TiiewJg_ISI/AAAAAAAAAWk/exOvy3UZo1E/s320/100_4614.JPG" /></a><br /><div><div> </div></div></div></div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825939093156890650noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8967156260199531431.post-12018365660294154122011-04-02T23:07:00.008-04:002011-04-03T00:07:14.861-04:00I think it's finally SPRING!<div align="justify">The weather has still been a little unpredictable here, but I think we've seen the end of winter (I hope!) By the middle of the week we should be in the high 50's and maybe even 60 a few days!! WooHoo!!! Made a trip up to Archiver's with my girlfriends today to check out the new Tim Holtz stuff.....awesome stuff, but too much to buy in one day. I would have "broke the bank"!! So here are a few things I've been up to lately. The first two are my latest skinny pages for Rande Hansen's grungy themed book. I had so much fun making these.....got out the papers and paints and just went to town!</div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rxfEeW6GmtQ/TZfrq6x6JKI/AAAAAAAAAWI/_GNL0pOBlxM/s1600/1000000824.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 158px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591196584969381026" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rxfEeW6GmtQ/TZfrq6x6JKI/AAAAAAAAAWI/_GNL0pOBlxM/s320/1000000824.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4hkaJuZbJ_0/TZfrqsKj6bI/AAAAAAAAAWA/WfbTzJtNydM/s1600/1000000837.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 154px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591196581046249906" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4hkaJuZbJ_0/TZfrqsKj6bI/AAAAAAAAAWA/WfbTzJtNydM/s320/1000000837.jpg" /></a> <br /><div align="justify">The little girl on the blue page is one Rande sent me awhile back, so thought it would be fun to use it in her book.....isn't she cute?</div><br /><div align="justify">This is a tag I made for the March ATT monthly mailer. The tag was painted black then I clear embossed the floral stamps, painted over it with green paint and rubbed the green off the embossed areas. I will be ever so happy to see spring arrive. The only good part of all this is that I no longer have to drive to work in the snow. In fact I've been pretty much hibernating these last few weeks.</div><div align="justify"> </div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bA1r4n39vf8/TVN96woLXQI/AAAAAAAAAUw/n1WKyacuzCY/s1600/100_4408.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571935612426738946" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bA1r4n39vf8/TVN96woLXQI/AAAAAAAAAUw/n1WKyacuzCY/s320/100_4408.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><div align="justify">This is a valentine I made for my PaperWhimsy friend Gale Blair for an exchange on our Facebook Art Friends group. No pressure here....I get to send to Miss PaperWhimsy herself!! I love this pink ruched fabric. I have it is a pale green too, but seem to always use the pink.<br /></div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wubbNYgKiWg/TVN96rEwpAI/AAAAAAAAAUo/mm3Y45sqrDk/s1600/100_4410.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571935610936009730" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wubbNYgKiWg/TVN96rEwpAI/AAAAAAAAAUo/mm3Y45sqrDk/s320/100_4410.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><div align="justify">I finally received a package from my friend Sally in France that was mailed on November 30th.....and look at the condition it was in when it arrived. It was practically shredded and in a USPS envelope with a note of apology stating "We Care"!!!! Fortunately, Sally had packaged everything so well that everything inside survived the trip despite the post office. Even the lovely crystal on her card was unbroken.</div><div align="justify"> </div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aoBJk4hJz3Y/TVN96EFMlHI/AAAAAAAAAUg/N6xcvUDLxpg/s1600/100_4404.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571935600468857970" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aoBJk4hJz3Y/TVN96EFMlHI/AAAAAAAAAUg/N6xcvUDLxpg/s320/100_4404.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><div align="justify"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SrzcVYWetHc/TVN9502v11I/AAAAAAAAAUY/Dlqq4PQ7Aps/s1600/100_4402.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5571935596381722450" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SrzcVYWetHc/TVN9502v11I/AAAAAAAAAUY/Dlqq4PQ7Aps/s320/100_4402.JPG" /></a><br /><br />This has been the view from our front porch. In fact this was about three inches ago. We are running out of places to put the snow. I figure if we get more snow before some of this melts, we won't be able to get to the mailbox. (Especially after the efforts of our wonderful snowplow driver!) Ah well, hopefully spring is not too far away. My partner this month was <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">Trinka</span>....she likes women's faces, numbers and old maps. I used an old piece of ledger paper that one of the pages I received had been wrapped in. I love my chair....although it looked much better in the family room with the ottoman before it was banished to the garage to await pickup. I have held the grandbabies for hours while they slept and spent many, many Sundays relaxing and reading the paper in the comfort of my chair. I couldn't find anything I liked nearly as well, so I settled for a nice green recliner/rocker. No ottoman and no pretty (albeit threadbare) leaf print fabric...and it's not big enough to have the little ones sit next to Grandma. Ah well, nothing lasts forever....farewell my old chair!</div><div align="justify"></div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TUbebijy9AI/AAAAAAAAATc/xGfSj3JI6Cc/s1600/100_4045.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568382554004976642" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TUbebijy9AI/AAAAAAAAATc/xGfSj3JI6Cc/s320/100_4045.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><div align="justify">Here's Becca Rose checking out the new chair....the delivery guys weren't even gone before she had to test it! I don't know how I managed to do all the holiday things I did when I was young......it seems old age really slows you down! I have so many things in various stages of completion and I know I will soon have to start prioritizing and deciding which things will wait til next year!<br /><br />One thing I have really been enjoying is Tim Holtz's twelve days of Christmas tags. I have only managed to finish three of them, but I hope to at least get to a few more before time runs out for this year! For each of the tags I had to improvise for items I didn't have, but that is half the fun! You can see Tim's tags <a href="http://www.timholtz.typepad.com/">here</a> . The man is SO talented and creative. AND lucky me, he gives away a ton of prizes over the twelve days and I just found out I WON!! And all you have to do to be included in the prize drawings each day is to leave a comment on his blog. WooHoo!!<br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TP_jj3P3CpI/AAAAAAAAARk/oK481FzVj-w/s1600/100_4037.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548403471209138834" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TP_jj3P3CpI/AAAAAAAAARk/oK481FzVj-w/s320/100_4037.JPG" /></a><br /></div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TP_jjHeKxiI/AAAAAAAAARc/g4rXadn43pI/s1600/100_4035.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548403458384250402" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TP_jjHeKxiI/AAAAAAAAARc/g4rXadn43pI/s320/100_4035.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TP_jiR1IejI/AAAAAAAAARU/2pg1NiVeF9A/s1600/100_4029.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548403443985054258" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TP_jiR1IejI/AAAAAAAAARU/2pg1NiVeF9A/s320/100_4029.JPG" /></a><br /><br />Here is a Christmas card I made using a new Cuttlebug die. I have a few more photos, but Blogger is giving me a hard time tonight! It's been a crazy month! We've been busy babysitting and shuffling grandkids here and there! My adorable little granddaughter shared her cold with me for my birthday. Had the family over for Thanksgiving dinner and now we are off and running to get ready for Christmas. I am hoping to get several things made for my daughter-in-laws. It really is true that time goes faster as you get older!!<br /><br />These first two things are for a monthly swap on the ATT Yahoo group. I used several different blue inks for the background....smudged on a teflon sheet, spritzed with water, then smooshed onto a tag. Walnut stain ink is then applied over a stencil, Tim stamps and metal embellishments, and some tissue tape for good measure! I used Tim's "On the Edge" snowflake die for the card.<br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TPSBhNg6SPI/AAAAAAAAAQQ/99loQKcfCDY/s1600/100_3985.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 203px; HEIGHT: 318px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545199448763287794" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TPSBhNg6SPI/AAAAAAAAAQQ/99loQKcfCDY/s320/100_3985.JPG" /></a><br /></div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TPSBg9fsRiI/AAAAAAAAAQI/DxDc2LNexio/s1600/100_3984.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 302px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545199444463207970" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TPSBg9fsRiI/AAAAAAAAAQI/DxDc2LNexio/s320/100_3984.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><div align="justify">These are three pieces of jewelry from the Tim Holtz classes I took at Stampaway in August. FUN!!! In another week we will be watching another of the grandkids (4 year old Bryce) one day a week. Becca Rose and Bryce will have a ball together!!</div><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TL0Df_n93OI/AAAAAAAAAO8/umb3AZj3Qmc/s1600/1017001654b.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529579765670730978" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TL0Df_n93OI/AAAAAAAAAO8/umb3AZj3Qmc/s320/1017001654b.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TL0Dfpmp1sI/AAAAAAAAAO0/DWhpY8UTZxA/s1600/1017001738.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529579759759644354" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TL0Dfpmp1sI/AAAAAAAAAO0/DWhpY8UTZxA/s320/1017001738.jpg" /></a><br /><div align="justify"><br />Well, a miracle happened last week. I actually finished a project and had it in the mail with TWO weeks to spare!! Amazing! These are my pages for Lenna's "Love" themed skinny book. I had fun with this one. I love the background papers (both new purchases from a trip to Archiver's last weekend with the girls!) The first one has a grungeboard swirl at the bottom painted with crackle paint and some really cool old coat check tickets. Decided on a romntic Paris theme for this page.</div><div align="justify"> </div><div align="justify"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLzwx3hdwQI/AAAAAAAAAOs/2jmMsSxdrms/s1600/100_3746.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 171px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529559182012694786" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLzwx3hdwQI/AAAAAAAAAOs/2jmMsSxdrms/s320/100_3746.JPG" /></a><br /><br />I cut this paper so I could use the chandeliers, hand, number and glitter swirl. I swear not working has made me lazy (or is it lazier?) But I do get to spend more time with the grandkids now. Of course they are in school now and all busy with football, cheerleading, baseball, hockey, soccer, etc. (Jim keeps a schedule of all their activities to make sure we make the rounds!) Since our 20 month old granddaughter is the only one not in school we do get to see her quite a bit. And when little Becca Rose is here, she keeps us BUSY, BUSY!!! She is such a little "Sweet Pea"!!<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLUbyUeFWTI/AAAAAAAAANk/NI6Bj4u6s10/s1600/100_3462.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527354668969449778" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLUbyUeFWTI/AAAAAAAAANk/NI6Bj4u6s10/s320/100_3462.JPG" /></a><br /></div><div align="justify">I have been trying to get caught up on all my art commitments, so here are a few things I've done recently. These are the charm dangles I made for a swap (31 of them!!) Can't wait to see what everyone came up with.....should be able to make a nice bracelet.<br /></div><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLUbeacW1_I/AAAAAAAAANc/eXZZ3J9X07I/s1600/100_3741.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 281px; HEIGHT: 196px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527354326975436786" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLUbeacW1_I/AAAAAAAAANc/eXZZ3J9X07I/s320/100_3741.JPG" /></a><br />These are the gothic arches I made for Nancy Maxwell James on the PaperWhimsy site. We had to make arches using the phrases "Begin the day" and "When nightfall comes" and of course use images from <a href="http://paperwhimsy.com/">paperwhimsy</a>....which I LOVE!<br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLUbd7gjvvI/AAAAAAAAANU/705w3Z_31aA/s1600/100_3735.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 230px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527354318671560434" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLUbd7gjvvI/AAAAAAAAANU/705w3Z_31aA/s320/100_3735.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLUbdbW4PZI/AAAAAAAAANM/3N8mvsG9Pug/s1600/100_3734.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 230px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527354310041025938" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TLUbdbW4PZI/AAAAAAAAANM/3N8mvsG9Pug/s320/100_3734.JPG" /></a><br />This is from a class I took at Stampaway in August. I chose Amelia Earhart. The rose is an Amelia rose and I put a tiny compass on one side of the little tab. I was lucky enough to take two classes from Tim Holtz at Stampaway and both were awesome. In one we made a really cool grungeboard minibook in a little suitcase and in the other we made four pieces of jewelry. Tim is such a great teacher and so generous. In one class he gave us each a pack of grungeboard shapes and in the other a full set of his stamps! And the best part is he supplies EVERYTHING you need for the class....right down to the scissors and glue! And now that Michael's and Hobby Lobby carry a lot of his new stuff, I've been stocking up...so will hopefully have more stuff to show off in the near future. Well, I doubt anyone has made it through this whole post......guess this is it for now!!!</div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825939093156890650noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8967156260199531431.post-80326782756260443762010-08-05T14:19:00.013-04:002010-08-05T15:59:53.337-04:00<div align="justify">Wow, I have really neglected my blog as of late. I had a nasty respiratory virus for the first part of summer and have been playing catch-up ever since. Between that and the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">grandkids</span> I haven't accomplished much else. Of course the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">ridiculously</span> high temps and humidity haven't helped much either. I'd just as soon be a hermit as to go out in that heat....<span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-error">blech</span>!!! So I thought I'd post some pictures of the things I have managed to do! The first pictures are of the skinny book pages I have made for the monthly swap I am in. These first two pages are for Karen's "Grandma's Attic" theme. I loved this theme! These pages were made using old family photos. On this first page, I used a photo of my Mom, one of my Mom and Uncle Gene when they were little kids and one of my Grandma and Aunt Ann. I used a piece of vintage ledger paper and an old brass stamping piece for embellishment.<br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TFsQQLFtMyI/AAAAAAAAAKo/wQqnptr0QOo/s1600/karen+front.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 300px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5502009239803867938" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TFsQQLFtMyI/AAAAAAAAAKo/wQqnptr0QOo/s400/karen+front.JPG" /></a><br />This page uses and old ledger sheet for the background and a postmark from an old letter sent to my mother-in-law from a friend of my husband's who was in the service during the Vietnam war. The couple in the old car are my Great-Aunt Ann and Great-<span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">Uncle</span> Wilbur! I embellished it with vintage lace and buttons.<br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TFsQPp-UBVI/AAAAAAAAAKg/WYhpKn7lLxA/s1600/karen+back.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 300px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5502009230914487634" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TFsQPp-UBVI/AAAAAAAAAKg/WYhpKn7lLxA/s400/karen+back.JPG" /></a><br />These pages are for my friend Caryl. Her theme is "Dreams"....a fun theme to work with. I found so may great dream quotes so I had a hard time narrowing it down to two. I was really stressed about this theme, but after my search for images, I felt a little better about it! I painted over the gold areas of the mask below with some sparkly gold paint and the canal image on the second page was painted over with clear crackle paint kind of creating the illusion of an old oil painting.<br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TFsLk-jTEQI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/R6-EYjfkXwM/s1600/100_3116.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 300px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5502004099657437442" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TFsLk-jTEQI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/R6-EYjfkXwM/s400/100_3116.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TFsLkQZSKRI/AAAAAAAAAJw/qjuj8t2TjdQ/s1600/100_3114.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 300px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5502004087267404050" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/TFsLkQZSKRI/AAAAAAAAAJw/qjuj8t2TjdQ/s400/100_3114.JPG" /></a><br />Someone dropped out early in the swap, so I made an extra set of pages for Linda K's "Summer" themed book. I've got a new router and it seems to have solved my computer issues. Unfortunately, I still have the same old knee. Finally gave in and went to the doctor last week and then for an MRI on Thursday. Waiting to hear the results tomorrow and crossing my fingers that it won't involve surgery. Although anything would be better than this pain and the resulting drug induced stupor. The worst part is the pills only dull the pain....haven't slept more than a couple hours at a time in several days....yawn! </div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify">So, being behind in all my commitments, I hobbled down the stairs to my little art studio and got busy. I still have a couple of things to finish, but here's what I managed to get done.....</div><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S5PZP4SYA-I/AAAAAAAAAGo/YiTNZbfV6gU/s1600-h/101_2865.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5445935241251783650" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S5PZP4SYA-I/AAAAAAAAAGo/YiTNZbfV6gU/s400/101_2865.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><div align="justify">This is for a tag triptych swap on PaperWhimsy. So, rather than be even later than I already am, I opted to use Fragments. I don't like the outcome as well, so will buy some of the UTEE we used in class and give it another try.....maybe for the March birthdays.</div><br />Well, first a litle nap (I hope) then back to work!Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825939093156890650noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8967156260199531431.post-46501043216602413352010-02-17T13:58:00.003-05:002010-02-17T14:39:40.963-05:00Great giveaway!Wow, Lesley Venable of Flatwoods Art Blog is offering a fabulous giveaway. The weather in Ohio is gloomy and cold......the hustle and bustle of another Christmas season is behind us....spring is a long way off. That being said, I have been making mental notes of the things I want to accomplish before the flowers start blooming and the birds sing in the morning and spring calls us outside. One thing I am planning to do is clean and organize my studio. It's in a worse than usual state of disaray since I found myself rushing at the last minute (as usual) to finish some Christmas gifts for friends and family. Another thing I plan to do is to get this blog up and running so I can share it with my art buddies. I envy those who are so good at blogging and journaling.....I think this will be a bit of a chore for awhile. Well for now, I will stick to posting some of my art and getting some links put up<br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qNNRbix5I/AAAAAAAAAFE/dO2CHkbvoZs/s1600-h/pwquiltie.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 266px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425303960277927826" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qNNRbix5I/AAAAAAAAAFE/dO2CHkbvoZs/s400/pwquiltie.jpg" /></a><br /></div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qNMzWHTWI/AAAAAAAAAE8/bSNl64loDnc/s1600-h/pwshadowbox.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 396px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425303952202091874" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qNMzWHTWI/AAAAAAAAAE8/bSNl64loDnc/s400/pwshadowbox.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qNMYhMg6I/AAAAAAAAAE0/7a2WS-dvS4A/s1600-h/pwfabricarch2.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 345px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425303945000813474" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qNMYhMg6I/AAAAAAAAAE0/7a2WS-dvS4A/s400/pwfabricarch2.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDLlb-GbI/AAAAAAAAAEI/_dxyApyAdoA/s1600-h/pwfabricarch.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 354px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425292936172411314" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDLlb-GbI/AAAAAAAAAEI/_dxyApyAdoA/s400/pwfabricarch.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDLEPCMhI/AAAAAAAAAEA/58mr3a9_ULA/s1600-h/RowHouse3045.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 278px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425292927259783698" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDLEPCMhI/AAAAAAAAAEA/58mr3a9_ULA/s400/RowHouse3045.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDKofwwsI/AAAAAAAAAD4/F2WD-QFAd2U/s1600-h/RowHouse2043.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 208px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425292919813751490" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDKofwwsI/AAAAAAAAAD4/F2WD-QFAd2U/s400/RowHouse2043.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDKaJG9MI/AAAAAAAAADw/IwoILKRSdiU/s1600-h/RowHouse042.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 259px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425292915960640706" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDKaJG9MI/AAAAAAAAADw/IwoILKRSdiU/s400/RowHouse042.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDJ3R80jI/AAAAAAAAADo/t3WeRkfvYwY/s1600-h/metal-charm.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 270px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425292906602484274" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/S0qDJ3R80jI/AAAAAAAAADo/t3WeRkfvYwY/s400/metal-charm.jpg" /></a><br /><div> </div></div></div></div></div>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825939093156890650noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8967156260199531431.post-45943858812672408732010-01-01T22:51:00.015-05:002010-02-07T20:43:54.205-05:00<p align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7O_g6HWZI/AAAAAAAAADg/xUElOjxOfRQ/s1600-h/100_2058e.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 233px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421998591961422226" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7O_g6HWZI/AAAAAAAAADg/xUElOjxOfRQ/s400/100_2058e.jpg" /></a></p><div align="justify">Well, like everyone else, I've been sidetracked by the holidays. But now it's a new year and I'm going to get back to this blogging thing and figure it out! I did manage to find time to make a few gifts this year now that I'm "retired". The vintage bottle snowmen were an inspiration from Nov/Dec 2008 Cloth Paper Scissors magazine. I fell in love with them and started collecting things to make them right away. They are made from vintage bottles I found on ebay and embellished with vintage beads, measuring tape, jewelry, old cake decorating tips and lots of other little odds and ends I picked up over the year. The heads are clay, the eyes and mouths are tiny brads and the noses are small bits of folded copper tape. After embellishing, I spread glue on the heads and small areas of the scarves or tinsel collars and sprinkled them with course glitter that looks like snow. Then for good measure I sprayed them with silver glitter spray! They were tons of fun to make and I used them for little "extra" gifts for my sisters, friends, neices and my daughter-in-laws.</div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify">My next endeavor was a little art quiltie for each of our sons and their wives. At last a legitimate use for all the fabric and lace and pretty little odds and ends I've been collecting for so long! I framed each quiltie in a shadowbox frame. I haven't done a ton of sewing, but I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out. I also made some soldered ornaments, but didn't get pictures. I'll have to find the extra one I made for me and get a picture of it. I had other things in various stages of completion, but this is what I managed to finish. Guess I will have a head start on next year's gifts! My daughter-in-laws are glad I got laid off!! (Isn't that sweet??!)<br /></div><p align="center"><br /></p><p align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E6Hh5z3I/AAAAAAAAADI/RFK-bGtASac/s1600-h/100_2112.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421987504133361522" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E6Hh5z3I/AAAAAAAAADI/RFK-bGtASac/s320/100_2112.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E6uAN3wI/AAAAAAAAADQ/hfxQneO2Vzc/s1600-h/100_2121.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421987514461052674" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E6uAN3wI/AAAAAAAAADQ/hfxQneO2Vzc/s320/100_2121.JPG" /></a><br /></p><p align="center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E5tDgvsI/AAAAAAAAADA/27xWODBQr8U/s1600-h/100_2117.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421987497026567874" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E5tDgvsI/AAAAAAAAADA/27xWODBQr8U/s320/100_2117.JPG" /></a><br /></p><p align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E5QKuWRI/AAAAAAAAAC4/YdbrVu2XpUY/s1600-h/100_2120.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421987489272191250" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E5QKuWRI/AAAAAAAAAC4/YdbrVu2XpUY/s320/100_2120.JPG" /></a><br /></p><p align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E4mwFfYI/AAAAAAAAACw/bRor39REtZg/s1600-h/100_2115.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421987478154608002" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y8_W1GRJAOQ/Sz7E4mwFfYI/AAAAAAAAACw/bRor39REtZg/s320/100_2115.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center"></p><p align="center"> </p>Lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02825939093156890650noreply@blogger.com2
